Henry IV
Sunday, October 26th, 2008Caught a another solid production from the Seattle Shakespeare Company at the Seattle Center. They condensed both parts into on longish play. The unexpected length of the play blew our plans of a nice post-play dinner out of the water. Also getting stuck in the new Seattle Center parking garage did not help matters. (Warning to those thinking of parking in the new garage near the Gates Foundation building: they have some bugs to work out.) We ended up ordering off the late night menu at the 5-spot. Not a bad deal, five dollar plates and one dollar PBRs.
The Mountain Goats
Thursday, October 23rd, 2008Stayed up late on Monday night to see the Mountain Goats at the Showbox. Kaki King opened for them. She was recently profiled in a Times piece on female guitarist. She did her fancy guitar picking, which was pretty cool to see.
Bailout
Saturday, October 4th, 2008Lots of good reporting on the current economic crisis this week. The Times reported on the key deregulation by the SEC of the investment banks that let them leverage in some cases 33 to 1. This American Life has been doing great programs trying to explain the financial products that led us into this mess. The best I think is Charlie Rose’s interview with Warren Buffett on Wednesday. There is hardly any Wall St. types left with much credibility, other then Warren Buffett and he does a great job laying out the big picture.
